Sniff and Savor Collar Accessory (a new crochet pattern)

Our latest senior foster pup, Bear is adorable. I mean, who doesn't love that cute little face! And the furry paws! I adore him. Sometimes he needs a little help calming down. I'm not usually one for the fancy, frou frou world of essential oils, but they have really helped our other senior foster encounter new situations like getting petted, going to Petco, and meeting other dogs.

So following in the line of my most popular pattern in Norway (hello Norwegians!) I analyzed a common household shape (a tube) and made it apply to a collar accessory that my other dog already owns, a Sniff-It.

This FREE pattern uses a bit of needle felting as well as crochet, so kids, be careful around those felting needles!

American Animal Rescue Society Raffle!

You guys all know how much I love animals :-)

Karin (Ravelry: knittypitty) of the blog Shouting Quietly is doing a great raffle for the animals of the Chicagoland area. Seriously - how cute is this?

Just one of the adorable items available!

All of the money helps the AARS pay their veterinarian bills and open a shelter at some point. Its a great cause and I like their philosopy - there's no discrimination against breeds, ages, or disabilities.

So - how do you help?

Go to this blog post.

Drool, oogle, and otherwise envy the awesome stuff for raffle.

See at the bottom the brown box labeled "AARSociety Spring 2010" and "ChipIn!" at the bottom? That's what you have to do - and she's posted the rules of the raffle just under that.

Good luck! That spindle lot is seriously calling my name - I may have to donate for a ticket or two!

Wear Orange on April 10, 2008

ASPCA Day

Please support this great organization by wearing orange, and maybe kick them a little money? They support animal rights, and not in that weird, college age hippe, PETA animal rights.

I mean the ones that animals should never have to endure - mental and physical abuse, cruelty and torture.

My poor Heidi was an ASPCA pick, burned by a cigarette by her former owner and beaten so badly her pelvis and her back eventually fused together from their malformation. And she was a great pet - kind and sweet, loved to play with her rope. Her only fault was that she got a little nippy when people touched that sensitive area of her back, the poor thing. RIP, babe!

Please help them in anyway you can. I've been a member for years.
